  1. Cybersecurity and Cybercrime:

ICTs provide unprecedented opportunities to accelerate social and economic development, while at the same time, the misuse of ICTs and their vulnerabilities create new and serious threats having the potential to harm the society. To answer the challenges imposed by the borderless nature of cybercrime and to achieve cybersecurity regional and worldwide, some key community acts were adopted in 2010 and 2011 relative to:

  • Electronic Transaction
  • Personal Data Protection
  • Fighting against cybercrime
  1. 40th Anniversary stamp

Issuance of a commemorative stamp to mark the occasion of the 40th anniversary of ECOWAS. The official launching is scheduled for December 2015 by the Member States during the summit of the Heads of State and Government. This is the first time in the world that such a number of countries will have a common stamp.

List of Accomplished Programmes/Projects

  1. National Computer Societies set up in Gambia, Senegal, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire as at 2015;
  2. SAP Implementation in ECOWAS Institutions and Agencies;
  3. Development and deployment of e-Learning facility for staff;
  4. Identification of Youth Innovation Hubs in Nigeria and Burkina Faso;
  5. Completed the 1st and 2nd phase of modernization of ECOWAS Commission Network Infrastructure. These include the deployment of a Cisco IP Phones for management staff, cabling of the 3 sites in Abuja, modernization of the data centre and procurement of networking equipment;
  6. Launching of the Microsoft online Exchange mailing system and Lync both on workstations and mobile devices;
  7. Deployment of the Service Desk system for IT support and proper inventory keeping;
  8. Development and deployment of a Language management system for the Language unit;
