- IT Projects Development:
The Community Computer Centre (CCC) Directorate has undertaken numbers of web and other platform application development projects for various Directorates, Departments and Projects within the Commission. These activities involve the analysis, design and development of entire suite of applications.
- Solution Support Service
The CCC provides solution support in the form of technical assistance to Member States and institutions. These services consist of deployment of training and/or technical teams to Member States and institutions. These activities consist of technical interventions on client systems and/or the organization of training programs to build the technical capacity of IT staff to manage and operate the IT systems.
To this end the CCC has undertaken national level projects for some Member States in the form of studies, training, software development and IT deployments that impact positively on those countries’ economies.
- Ensuring Uniform Standards
Standards for equipment and software are defined annually for application by all ECOWAS institutions. The CCC subtly enforces compliance by fielding monitoring visits once annually to all institutions, Agencies and Projects, thereby ensuring the maintenance of uniform IT standards by all. During those annual visits institutions, Agencies and Projects are assisted to pay for either internet bandwidth b or network accessories.
Furthermore, monetary and technical support is provided to these Institutions during the periodic visits.
- Email and web development services:
The CCC provides Email services to the staff of ECOWAS Institutions, Agencies, Projects (such as ECODOCS, SIGTEL, EPA, AID for Trade, ETLS, CDP, EPAU, ECOAGRIS, ECOBIZ), National offices in Member States and some ECOWAS Partner Institutions besides web development and hosting services provided these institutions among others etc.
- Network administration and internet:
The CCC is responsible for Internet provisioning and the management of the ECOWAS Commission’s physical networks infrastructure and internet usage policies for all ECOWAS institutions, Agencies and Projects. Given that the availability and robustness of the network and online services are prime to organizational performance, the CCC has deployed parallel concurrent internet service provisioning for the Commission and endeavors to guarantee 24/7 internet access availability overall to buttress efforts being made to attain set organizational strategic goals.
- Intranet Services and Unified Communication (Voice, Video, Text)
Intranet services to provide communication, cooperation and collaborative space for staff to share and exchange information as well as create synergies on potential collaborative tasks is being deployed. The system will equally provide for unified communication and permits telephone calls among handsets, mobile phones, laptops, desktops and phone receivers not excluding online relay chats and video calls.
The CCC is deploying these services on the Microsoft intranet suite platform SharePoint and Lync in the Commission with plans to extend these services to other ECOWAS Institutions, Agencies and Projects.
The system will also see to the automation of the administrative machinery of the ECOWAS Commission.
- Help desk and equipment maintenance services
Help desk support and equipment maintenance support services are also provided to staff of ECOWAS Commission including equipment repairs or system change/replacement as the case may be.
The Directorate is in the process of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with third party service providers like Hewlett-Packard and other hardware providers to ensure proper maintenance/repair of hardware systems within the ECOWAS Commission.
- User/institutional Support:
As part of its mandate, the CCC provides user training and support to staff of the Commission besides other support provided to Institutions, Agencies and Projects. A section of CCC staff have been assigned the task of supporting the generality of staff including on: internet access, office software and other applications, and IT equipment.
- Data Centre management and support
The CCC’s manages the Commission’s data centre that houses servers that provides IT related services for the ECOWAS Commission, Institutions and Agencies and ensures both the physical and logical security of the servers and storage equipment.
