Centre de formation à Lomé

In carrying out CCC’s mission, the Lomé training center is its operational arm. Regulation C / REG.18 / 02 of August 18, 2002 concerning the transfer of key personnel of the Community Computer Centre to the Executive Secretariat states that the Training Centre remains based in Lomé. The center is equipped with latest technology of the latest generation for the conduct of its activities.

Missions

Technology training and capacity building for customs officers and officers of the national statistics offices for the benefit of administrations of Member States;
Technical assistance to Member States in ICT especially in customs and statistics administration.

Activities

Training in Information Technology for customs and statistics administrations and others;
Provision of services to Member States, ECOWAS Institutions and other users;
Assistance and advice to Member States and ECOWAS Institutions;
Coordination of national IT projects;
Coordination of activities of the regional project for the interconnection of customs computer systems and the computerization of transit procedures (ALISA);
Hosting of regional databases;
Organization and hosting of seminars and workshops.

Prospects

Since the creation of the CCC, the training center in Lomé has provided training, and capacity building for customs officers and officers in the national statistics offices as part of the computerization of their administrations with ASYCUDA and EUROTRACE software, as well as provided them technical assistance.

The center has trained executives in these sectors from central and eastern Africa, and provided technical assistance to countries in these regions.

To strengthen its operational capabilities, the center is to evolve into the region’s Center of Excellence for the Automation of Trade gradually as its operational capacity is enhanced.
