12th Annual ECOWAS-Development Partners Coordination Meeting
The 12th Annual ECOWAS-Development Partners Coordination Meeting took place this week (8th-9th November) at the headquarters of the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja. The event was opened by the President of the ECOWAS Commission, HE Marcel Alain de Souza, who intimated that the Community expects the cooperation with the Development Partners to enhance the regional integration process “in a dynamic and constructive spirit”.
Apart from the plenary, several parallel sessions did also take place for the different thematic groups, including infrastructure (Energy, mines Transport and ICT).
As far as ICT is concerned, during his intervention, the Commissioner for Telecoms and IT, Dr. Isaias Barreto da Rosa presented the key achievements of the ECOWAS Commission in this sector and appealed for the inclusion of the Telecoms and IT component in all major infrastructure projects in West Africa, as per the request of the ECOWAS Ministers in charge of ICT during their last ordinary meeting, held on 6th of October in Praia, Cape Verde.
