The 9th edition of the West African Internet Governance Forum (WAIGF) has just been concluded in Cotonou, Benin. This two days meeting started yesterday, July 27th, 2017 and was formally opened by the Minister of Digital Economy and Communication, Madame Rafiatou Monrou.

In his intervention during the opening ceremony the ECOWAS Commissioner for Telecoms and IT, Dr. Isaias Barreto da Rosa highlighted the importance of the multi-stakeholder model in promoting a good Internet governance and emphasized the need of addressing key internet governance issues, such as cyber security, universal access, and electronic commerce.

The motto for the 9th West Africa IGF was “Digital security for socioeconomic development and peace.”
